You'll decorate a terracotta pot using a mixed-media materials bar, paint, mosaic tiles, beads, sea glass, shells, stones, then plant seeds in it. Take home a one-of-one handmade planter with something growing in it.

Alex walks you through adhesion techniques and design options, then you're loose with the materials. No two pots will look the same because no two people pick the same things.

The Project

There are no instructions for what your pot should look like. You get paint, a materials bar with tiles, beads, sea glass, shells, and river stones. You pick what calls to you. The colors you reach for, the things you layer together, the way it fills up will say something about you. That's the whole point.

Welcome + materials walkthrough

Get oriented at the materials bar. Alex walks you through the supplies, adhesion basics, and what you’re making.

Open work time at the materials bar

Build your pot. Tiles, beads, sea glass, stones, shells — pick what calls to you. No two will look the same.

Planting your herb

Add soil and plant your herb. Alex shows you the basics so it actually survives the ride home.

Show your pot + wrap up

Walk around, see what everyone made. No pressure — just a good moment to slow down before you go.

Done. Go home with something you made.

What's included?

Everything. All materials, your pot, seeds, and a care card are provided. Just bring yourself.

What should I wear?

We’ll be outside, so dress for the weather. Wear something you don’t mind getting a little messy.

Where do I park?

Lafreniere Park has plenty of free parking. Pull in and find a spot — no stress.

Where exactly do I go?

We’ll send an email closer to the event with the exact shelter or area we’ll be in.

Alex is a mixed-media creative whose work lives at the intersection of texture, color, and found materials. Her dream is to build her own non-profit creative community center — and this is where she’s starting. She brings real technical knowledge to the materials bar and a genuine belief that everyone has something worth making.
