Everyone brings a book that got under their skin: thriller, horror, mystery, whatever kept them up too late. A handful of people sign up ahead of time to tell their book's story like a campfire tale, and the room votes for the best one. Then it's a swap — tell the best story, get first pick of the pile.

Think less book club, more ghost story after dark — just with novels instead of legends. Bring a blanket and come ready to listen.

The day’s schedule

6:30 PM

Check in, library style

Sign the library card at the door, grab your read receipt card, and get a coffee or tea. Costumes welcome.

6:50 PM

Write your read receipt

A few lines inside the cover: why the book stuck with you, or what you hope the next reader gets from it.

7:15 PM

Show and Tell

Each person pitches their book to the room — what it's about, why it stuck with you, why someone should pick it.

7:45 PM

The Swap

Trade with whoever's pitch pulled you in. No assigned pairs, just whoever calls to you.

8:30 PM

Stay and talk

Meet the person whose book you took. Compare notes. Head out when you're ready.
